Biutiful - the Movie

This is one movie I would NOT recommend. Javier Bardem has been nominated for an Oscar for his performance. While his role was well done, the movie was so hard to watch. This one has it all: Chinese slavery, man dying of cancer, dysfunctional wife/mother, filthy apartments and streets, dead slaves washing up on the beach. I thought it would never end. Save $10 and forget this one.

Celebrating Birthdays!

This week was my friend, Sandi's birthday, so we celebrated at the Carlyle in Shirlington. The Carlyle (and all the Great American Restaurants) are always tried and true good. The food is consistently delicious, and the service is terrific. It seems that I go there on occasion for many of my friends' birthdays. It's a great place to celebrate.

At the end, they made a wonderful presentation with a delish dessert surrounded with a big "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate on the plate. Yummy lemon meringue pie--it was a happy day.

Good movie - Barney's Version

I saw "Barney's Version" this week, and I loved it. Look at this trailer. I also saw "The Company Men" with Ben Affleck and I thought it was very good also.
